Xiaomi's Mi Robot Vacuum line remains separate from Roborock, even though both emerged from Xiaomi's ecosystem. These models use an LDS (Laser Distance Sensor) laser rangefinder that performs Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM). The sensor scans continuously as the vacuum moves, building an accurate floor plan in real time without needing a pre-made map.
The LDS technology keeps costs lower than some premium alternatives while maintaining solid mapping accuracy. Mi vacuums are especially popular in Asia but increasingly available globally for price-conscious buyers.
