The S8 MaxV Ultra was Roborock's headline model for two straight years, and it still holds up: dual cameras plus structured light give it reliable real-time obstacle recognition, so cords, shoes, and pet accidents get routed around rather than run over. The mopping side uses two spinning pads under downward pressure, which lifts stains that a flat pad just smears, and the pads retract when the robot detects carpet so rugs don't end up damp.

The RockDock Ultra base handles the parts people hate: emptying the bin into a sealed bag, washing the mop pads in hot water, drying them with hot air so they don't sour, and topping up the clean water tank from a reservoir you fill every few weeks. Running costs come down to that reservoir, occasional mop pad replacement, and a bag every couple of months. It suits a household with pets and mixed flooring that wants to set a schedule and mostly forget about it, though the dock itself is large and needs a dedicated spot against a wall with a power outlet nearby.
