SharkNinja's cleaning brand

Shark is one half of SharkNinja, the company behind Shark floorcare and Ninja kitchen appliances. Its stores sell far more than vacuums: air fryers, coffee machines, grills, fans, hair stylers and LED face masks share the menu with uprights, cordless sticks, steam mops and carpet cleaners. The Irish Shark site describes the relationship plainly: "All Shark products are developed, engineered and tested by SharkNinja, the global manufacturer behind the Shark and Ninja brands." Robots are a large line within the floorcare side, sold direct from SharkNinja's own stores in the US, Canada and the UK. In Ireland the Shark site is run by Gowan Home, which it names as the official authorized distributor of Shark and Ninja products there, rather than by SharkNinja itself.

The range: Navigator, Matrix and PowerDetect

Shark's UK robot page lets you filter the range by three collections, Navigator, Matrix and PowerDetect, and by need: auto-empty robots, robot vacuum and mop, or vacuum only. The collections work as a ladder.

Navigator is the entry point. The Canadian store lists the Shark Navigator Robot RV2100AECA with a 60-day capacity self-empty base, row-by-row cleaning, a self-cleaning brushroll and object avoidance, at $349.99, and the UK store had the Navigator Robot Vacuum & Self-Empty Base RV2110AEUK at £210.00, reduced from £364.99.

Matrix adds Shark's grid-based mapping. The Canadian page says the robot "cleans in a precise matrix grid, taking multiple passes over dirt and debris and ensuring no spots are missed." The Shark Matrix Robot Vacuum RV2300CA was $299.99, and with a self-empty base, the RV2300SCA, $399.99. The Matrix Plus models add mopping. In the UK the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Self-Empty Robot Vacuum & Mop was listed at £299.99 against £519.99.

PowerDetect is the top tier, and the one Shark promotes hardest. The Canadian Shark PowerDetect Robot Vacuum and Mop with NeverTouch Base, UR2850ZECA, vacuums and mops, detects dirt, stains, edges and floors, and has a base that self-empties with 60-day capacity, refills water and washes and dries the mop pad. The UK page says the NeverTouch Pro robot can "self-empty debris, self-refill with water, self-clean and dry its own mopping pad after every session - for up to 60 days of self-empty convenience." Above that sit the ThermaCharged models, with a heated mop pad wash and dry, and the PowerDetect UV Reveal robots. The UK UV Reveal 2-in-1 Vac & Mop, RV3026XEUKGN, uses UV Reveal Technology to spot hidden dirt, sticky messes and pet accidents, and offers "Up to 3 hours+ battery life with a 60-day debris capacity." It was listed at £639.99 against £1,039.99.

A few models sit outside the three collections. The Canadian store lists the Shark Detect Pro Robot Vacuum, RV2810AECA, with a 60-day self-empty base, DirtDetect and a HEPA anti-allergen seal at $549.99, and the Shark AI Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop, RV2610WDCA, at $399.99 against $599.99. In the UK, the ThermaCharged PowerDetect Wet & Dry Robot Vacuum RV2900XEUK was £534.99 against £934.99. Shark also sells bundles that pair a robot with an upright, a cordless stick or a WandVac handheld, for stairs and the corners a robot cannot reach.

Shark's robot technology

Shark names its detection features and explains them. Dirt Detect "Detects hidden dirt & debris and automatically boost power to capture it." Edge Detect "Uses blasts of air to pull debris out of edges & corners and into the robot's cleaning path." Floor Detect recognizes floor types and avoids carpets while mopping. Sonic Mopping, on the Canadian page, "Scrubs hard floors up to 100 times per minute." NeverStuck Technology lifts and lowers the robot over obstacles and raises the mop higher so messes are not dragged across carpet.

The UK page says all Shark robots use LiDAR navigation, and its FAQ gives practical limits: robots climb most thresholds, but anything higher than 2.5cm should be blocked with a no-go zone unless the robot has NeverStuck, and cliff sensors keep them off stairs.

Shark also makes a point of its bagless base. The Canadian FAQ says the self-empty base is completely bagless, with a canister you empty into the trash, so there are no replacement bags to buy. It adds that most Shark robots run for 60 to 120 minutes on a charge and return to the base to recharge mid-clean before carrying on.

The SharkClean app

The SharkClean app, free on iOS and Android, is the control center. Shark says you can start, pause or schedule cleans for the whole home or room by room, view cleaning history and maps, set no-go zones around pet bowls or play areas, adjust suction and receive maintenance alerts. The app works with Amazon Alexa and Google Home. The UK FAQ notes that Shark robots connect on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

Consumables are spelled out as well: filters, side brushes and mop pads need periodic replacement, a maintenance schedule is in the manual, and the app alerts you when a part is due. The UK store sells extra mop pads and side brushes, and its parts section includes robot vacuum parts.

Buying direct

Each store sets its own terms. The US site offers free shipping over $99 and a 60-Day Returns, Refunds and Exchanges Policy. The Canadian store has free shipping over $75 and a 60-day money-back guarantee. The UK store offers free next day delivery over £30, pay-in-3 with Klarna, 30-day returns with free returns on main units, and an "Up to 2-Year Guarantee." The Irish distributor offers a free guarantee of "up to 5 years" when products are registered. Product registration and warranty information are linked from every store's support menu.

Who it suits

Shark suits a buyer who wants a mainstream robot with a self-empty base and would rather not buy bags. The Navigator and Matrix models cover basic vacuuming and self-emptying at modest prices, and the PowerDetect range is for homes that want the robot to mop, wash its own pad and refill itself. Shark says every robot is built with pet households in mind, with tangle-resistant brushrolls, and the UV Reveal robots go looking for accidents.

The range is large and model numbers differ by country, so compare the exact code on your local store. For most households the choice comes down to how much of the upkeep you want the base to take over.
