Who AGARO is
AGARO is a consumer appliance brand selling through its own online store, with prices in rupees and blog posts written for "the Indian home". Its catalog is very wide: blenders, air fryers, coffee makers, oven toaster grillers, kettles and cookware in the kitchen; vacuum cleaners, electric mops, air purifiers, irons, fans and humidifiers for the house; car washers and tire inflators; hair dryers, trimmers and electric toothbrushes; massagers, fitness gear, power tools and health devices such as BP monitors. The home page talks up smart features and design, signs off with "Live Smart. Live Stylish. Live AGARO." and claims the brand is "Loved By 1Cr+ Customers".
Robot vacuums are a small corner of that range. AGARO's store lists one robot, the Alpha, and the brand supports it with a product page and a set of how-to articles on its blog.
The robot: AGARO Alpha
The Alpha is a 2-in-1 robot that vacuums and mops. AGARO's product page lists three working modes, Sweep & Mop, Sweep and Mop, so you can vacuum only, mop only, or do both in one pass. In the combined mode the robot vacuums at the front while the mop wipes behind it.
Navigation uses what AGARO calls "advanced SLAM lidar (Intelligent Mapping and Route Planning)", plus sensors against falls and collisions. The setup guide describes the first run as a scouting pass: open the doors, pick up loose cables, tasseled doormats and toys, and let the laser map the home. Once the map is saved you can name rooms, set No-Go Zones (AGARO's own example is the Pooja room) and schedule cleans.
On suction, the page is not fully consistent. The product title says "Upto 3200Pa" and the maintenance blog repeats 3200Pa, while the feature list says the brushless motor "generates up to 3000 Pa of suction power". Either way there are four suction levels, Eco, Standard, Strong and Super Strong, and an automatic adjustment that raises suction when the robot detects a different kind of flooring, such as a carpet.
Beyond the three modes, the Alpha has cleaning patterns for specific jobs. Quick Cleaning plans a fast route through the open, high-traffic areas. Edge cleaning ignores the middle of the room and follows walls and baseboards with the side brushes. Y-shaped mopping moves the robot in a Y pattern that AGARO says mimics hand scrubbing and works better on light stains and footprints than a straight drag. A preset timer lets you choose the day, the time and the area, and the blog's example is an Edge Clean at 3 AM or a Sweep & Mop at 11 AM while the house is empty.
The hardware figures are modest and clearly stated. The water tank holds 250 ml for mopping and the dust bin collects up to 240 ml of dirt. The battery runs for "upto 100 mins", after which the robot finds its charging dock and recharges itself. The robot weighs 2.9 kg and cleans both hard floors and carpet. The box contains the robot, two HEPA filters, four side brushes, a cleaning brush, two mops, the charging dock and a cable.
App and setup
The Alpha runs on the Smart Life app for Android and iOS rather than an app of AGARO's own. It connects over 2.4GHz WiFi, a hotspot network or Bluetooth 5.0, and also works with Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control. AGARO's setup guide walks through pairing step by step: "Add Device", then "Small Home Appliances -> Robot Vacuum (Wi-Fi)", then hold the power and home buttons until the robot enters pairing mode. The guide notes that most home routers are dual band and the robot needs the 2.4GHz network.
The dock needs space. AGARO asks for 0.5 meters of clear space on both sides and 1.5 meters in front, and recommends placing the robot on the dock by hand for its first full charge before the mapping run.
Care and consumables
AGARO's maintenance article gives a clear routine. Tap the HEPA filter clean once a week; AGARO says it "traps 99.9% of microscopic dust and allergens", and warns that a filter must be completely dry before it goes back in if you wash it, because a damp filter can damage the motor. Every two weeks, flip the robot and cut hair off the main brush with the bladed tool in the box. Replace side brushes that look frayed or bent. Wipe the infrared and laser sensor windows with a dry microfiber cloth so the robot keeps recognizing stairs. After each mopping run, empty the water tank, leave it open to dry and wash the mop cloth.
The box's spares (two filters, four side brushes, two mops) cover the first months.
Price, stock and warranty
AGARO publishes its price. The Alpha page listed ₹ 16,999 against a crossed-out ₹ 44,990, with a festive code taking it to ₹ 16,149, though the robot showed as sold out with a pre-order notice and a 10% pre-order discount. Store prices move with promotions, so treat these as the figures on the page on one day rather than a fixed price.
The Alpha comes with a "1 Year manufacturing Warranty". AGARO's store also advertises "Free Replacement within 7 days", a "Hassle-Free Warranty", a product registration page and a service section, and it takes support requests by phone and by e-mail.
The honest downsides
The product page carries 44 customer reviews, and they split sharply: 28 five-star against 8 one-star. The positive ones praise the suction, the slim body under beds and sofas, and a demo and setup call from AGARO's staff. The negative ones are mostly about after-sales service, with owners describing long waits for replacement dustbins and mop containers. That is worth weighing before buying a robot whose parts come from one store.
The hardware is also entry-level. A 250 ml water tank and a 240 ml bin mean frequent emptying, there is no self-emptying station, and control runs through the Smart Life platform rather than an AGARO app.
Who AGARO suits
The Alpha suits a first-time buyer in India who wants LiDAR mapping, mopping and scheduling at the sale price, and who is happy to empty the bin and rinse the mop after each run. The blog's guides assume exactly that reader and explain everything from dock placement to Wi-Fi bands. It suits a flat or a smaller home best, given the 100 minute runtime and small tanks. A buyer who wants a range to choose from, a self-emptying dock, or a long warranty will not find them here, and a buyer who puts service speed first should read the product page's reviews before ordering.
