Who Deerma is
Deerma is a Chinese home appliance company. Its About page describes Guangdong Deerma Technology Company Limited (301332.SZ) as "established in Shunde District, Foshan City in July 2011", an enterprise "integrating independent research and development, original design, manufacturing and sales." It owns the DEERMA brand, also operates the PHILIPS brand, and listed on the ChiNext board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange on May 18, 2023. The company says it has R&D centers and manufacturing bases in Foshan, Suzhou and other cities, and a testing center that follows the ISO17025 standard, with labs for safety, EMC, noise and durability.
Deerma's roots are in e-commerce. The history page traces it from a brand design studio to an online sales operation and then to its own product brand. Along the way it acquired Philips' global water health business in 2018, gained authorization for Philips portable massagers in 2021, and reports revenue of RMB 3.3 billion for 2022. It still sells heavily online: Tmall, TikTok and JD.com at home, plus country sites across Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America. The robot vacuums sit inside a large cleaning range that also covers wet-dry floor washers, window cleaning robots, cordless vacuums, steam mops, dust mite vacuums and fabric cleaners. The brand's own promise is products with "high cost-effective performance" and "affordable pricing of 'just right'".
The robot vacuum range
Deerma's global site groups its robots into three types: plain robot vacuums, self-emptying robot vacuums and mops, and robots with an all-in-one station. Read from the bottom up, the range steps cleanly.
S40. The entry robot. Deerma calls it an "Entry-Level Robot Vacuum" with 7,000Pa of suction, a 2-in-1 sweeping and mopping design, a 140min maximum runtime and a remote control with a 15m range. No station, no LiDAR listed.
S40 Pro and S30 Pro. The S40 Pro raises suction to 15,000Pa and adds a 3-in-1 sweep, vacuum and mop design, a tangle-free dual-brush system and "Streak-free Bio-mimetic Pressurized Mopping". The S30 Pro is the laser-navigation option at this level: an LDS robot with "PreciSence LiDAR Home Mapping", 360° panoramic navigation and obstacle avoidance, 15,000Pa suction and a 25mm obstacle crossing height.
S30, S30 Pro Plus and H40 Pro. This is the self-emptying tier. The S30 is billed as the "Entry-Level Auto-Empty Robot Vacuum", with Auto Empty Base Station 2.0, 13,000Pa of suction, 25mm obstacle crossing and a 3-stage anti-tangle system. The S30 Pro Plus keeps the Auto-empty Station 2.0 and the 25mm crossing but lifts suction to 15,000Pa. Deerma files all three under "Self-Emptying Robot Vacuum and Mop", and the H40 Pro spells out the mopping: a 3-in-1 sweep, vacuum and mop design, 15,000Pa, a tangle-free dual-brush system and a "120-day Auto-empty Base Station 2.0", which Deerma says brings "99.9% Anti-bacterial and Odor Control".
X80, X80 Ultra and X90 Ultra. The all-in-one station robots. The X80 brings 120° wide-angle laser obstacle avoidance, a "40mm-extended Smart Bionic Arm" that reaches into edges, Spiral Tangle-free Brush 2.0 and 15,000Pa. The X80 Ultra goes to 23,000Pa, adds dual robotic arms (a 40mm-extended arm for both sweeping and mopping), an auto-lifting 60mm bionic wheel for climbing, and "0-Tangle Brushroll 4.0 with Dock-Activated Safe Hair-Cutting", where the station cuts wound hair off the brush. The X90 Ultra is the flagship: an "AI-Powered Cleaning Robot" with the "AI Smart Eye" intelligent recognition system, the same hair-cutting brushroll, 100°C hot water dual-spray self-cleaning and the "All-in-one Maintenance-free Base Station 5.0".
The US storefront also shows the DEM-S30 auto-empty robot and a DEM-X70 robot with an all-in-one base station.
So the steps buy three things in turn: a station that empties the bin (S30 and up), better navigation (LiDAR on the S30 Pro, laser obstacle avoidance on the X80), and then a full station with mopping, hair cutting and, on the X90 Ultra, hot-water washing.
Beyond robot vacuums
Deerma also sells a large family of wet-dry floor washers, and a robot buyer may end up choosing between the two. The range runs from the VX20, a dual-roller washer with separate clean and dirty water tanks, through the VX100 Ultra with 70°C hot-water self-cleaning, 100°C drying and 20,000Pa, to the VX900 Pro and VX900 Ultra with 23,000Pa suction and a 5-in-1 auto-refill base station. The VX400 adds "Domino Foam" foam washing, and the VX20 Pro uses 100°C steam that Deerma says "Removes 99.99% of bacteria and dust mites". Several models carry a green dust-reveal light that shows dust on the floor.
Two window cleaning robots complete the automated side. The C70s sprays through six pressurized holes, uses four-corner spinning side brushes and rates its scrubbing at 89N. The C50s Ultra uses bidirectional water mist cleaning, dual-disk dynamic pressure cleaning, AI route coverage and "0mm Close-to-Edge Cleaning".
Design and quality claims
Deerma leans on design. Its About page lists the German iF Design Award, the Red Dot Design Award, the AWE Award, the K-Design Award and the Taiwan Golden Pin Design Award among its honors, and says its products are "hot-selling in Hong Kong China, Brazil, South Korea, Russia, Ukraine, Indonesia, Japan, Thailand and other countries and regions." It also says it builds in its own integrated plant, with production lines for electronics, sub-assembly, final assembly and injection molding.
What to weigh
The global site is a catalog, not a store. It shows no prices, no warranty terms and no app name for the robots, so buyers have to go through a country site or a retailer for those. Some flagship features, such as the AI Smart Eye, are named rather than explained. The range is also broad enough to be confusing: two robots called S30 Pro and S30 Pro Plus differ in both navigation and docking.
Who Deerma suits
Deerma suits a buyer who wants a lot of specification for the money and is happy to buy through an online marketplace or a regional site. The S30 is a sensible first self-emptying robot, the S30 Pro fits a flat that needs a proper LiDAR map, and the X80 Ultra and X90 Ultra suit homes with pets and long hair, where the hair-cutting brushroll and mop washing save real time. Households with lots of hard floor may also look at the VX wet-dry washers alongside the robots. A buyer who wants published prices, warranty terms and app details on the maker's own page before choosing will find the global site thin on those points.
