What Medion Is

Medion is an electronics and appliance brand from Essen, Germany. Its German shop sells laptops, PCs and accessories, TVs, kitchen appliances and a "Haushalt & Freizeit" (household and leisure) range that includes robot vacuums, mopping robots and their accessories. The company behind the shop is medion GmbH, Am Zehnthof 77, 45307 Essen, according to the footer. The shop promises "Versandkostenfrei ab 49 €" (free shipping from 49 €) and "2 Jahre Garantie" (2 years warranty) in its header.

Medion's robot vacuums run from 99,95 € to 449,95 € and combine laser navigation, mopping, no-go zones and, on most models, a station that empties the robot's bin for you. The page this listing points to is the brand's guide to app-controlled robots, which doubles as the storefront for its current range.

The Range

Every current Medion robot on the app page mops as well as vacuums and uses laser navigation with precise mapping. The steps between them come down to suction, the station and the mop system.

  • X41 SW, 99,95 €. The entry model, with "starke 8.000 Pa Saugkraft" (strong suction), no-go and go zones, precise mapping and multiple floors. It comes without a station, though Medion sells a separate 2-liter suction station for it (see below).
  • X22 SW+, 179,95 €. Adds a suction station ("Absaugstation") and app control, with 5.000 Pa suction, no-go and go zones and multi-floor maps. It comes in gray or blue.
  • X20 SW+ and X23 SW+, 199,95 €. Two more station models. The X20 SW+ lists 3.000 Pa and the X23 SW+ lists 5.000 Pa, both with mopping, laser navigation, no-go and go zones, multi-floor maps and app control. The X23 SW+ is the most reviewed robot on the page, with 99 ratings.
  • X55 SW+, 399,95 €. The step up to Medion's "3-in-1 Absaugstation". It brings "rotierende und bewegliche Wischmopps" (rotating, movable mop pads), obstacle detection by cross-line laser ("Hinderniserkennung durch Kreuzlinienlaser") and "starke 10.000 Pa Saugkraft" (strong suction).
  • X55 SW+ Pro, 449,95 €. The top of the range, with the same headline features as the X55 SW+ and 57 reviews on the page.

So the jumps are clear. Up to 199,95 € you choose between more suction without a station (the X41 SW) or a station with less suction (the X20, X22 and X23). Above that, the X55 models add spinning mop pads, better obstacle detection and double the suction of the mid-range. Prices on the shop move, so check the current figure before buying.

The MEDION Robots App

Medion's robots with app control run on the MEDION Robots app, which the guide says lets you send the robot "bequem aus der Ferne auf seine Reinigungstour" (conveniently on its cleaning run from anywhere). The two requirements, according to Medion, are a Wi-Fi connection and an app-compatible robot. The guide is clear that the functions "vom Modell des Saugroboters und seiner Technik abhängen" (depend on the model and its technology). On models that map a room, the app can show the map and the cleaning route, so you can see where the robot went and which obstacles it steered around, and you can set no-go zones it will not enter.

The guide frames the app against a simple remote control: a remote only works when you can find it and are in the room, while the app works from anywhere. Medion also publishes separate guides on connecting robots to Google Home, Alexa and Siri, and on robots that work without Wi-Fi or an app at all.

Accessories and Spare Parts

Medion's German shop has a robot vacuum accessory section with 48 products, sold as numbered sets per model:

  • For the X50 SW (MD 20004), set 4 bundles 2 mop pads, 2 H13 filters, 4 side brushes and 3 station dust bags for 29,95 €; set 3 drops the bags for 19,95 €; set 2 is 5 dust bags for 17,95 €; set 5 is 3 mop pads for 14,95 €; and set 1 is a combination brush, silicone brush and polishing brush for 29,95 €.
  • For the X41 SW, X41 SW+ and X42 SW+, set 1 at 34,95 € covers a main brush, 4 side brushes, 4 mop pads, 4 HEPA 13 filters and 4 filter sponges. Separate sets bring 5 dust bags for the X41 SW+'s 2-liter station (14,95 €) and 5 bags for the X42 SW+'s 3-liter station (19,95 €).
  • The Absaugstation MD 12035 for the X41 SW adds "2 Liter Fassungsvermögen, Automatisches Entleeren" (2-liter capacity, automatic emptying) for 69,95 €.

Older robots are covered too. The MEDION Service Shop still lists parts for the S30 SW (MD 20021), dated 07/2021, with individual components priced in euros including VAT: a water tank with mop for 17.95 €, a dustbin for 24.25 €, a dock station for 24.48 €, a pair of side brushes or an EPA10 filter for 9.95 €, a lithium battery for 29.23 €, a mainboard for 36.29 €, plus wheels, sensors, the fan and the Wi-Fi module. For owners who want to repair rather than replace, that range of parts is useful.

Support

Medion's service site offers product registration, which shows the remaining warranty period, drivers, manuals and video guides, fault diagnosis and repair orders for certain products and faults, and matching accessories and spare parts. The German shop footer links warranty conditions, returns and withdrawal, delivery terms and old-appliance take-back.

Honest Downsides

The product tiles in Medion's German shop give a feature list and suction figure rather than full spec sheets, so runtime, bin and tank sizes need a click into each product. Review scores vary across the range, from 3 stars on the X20 SW+ (one review) to more than 4 stars on the X55 SW+ Pro from 57 reviews. Medion says it checks every consumer review against a verified order before publishing it, so those scores come from actual buyers. And the cheapest X41 SW has no app control in its feature list, so buyers who want the app should check the product page first.

Who It Suits

Medion suits buyers in Germany who want laser navigation, mopping and a self-emptying station for 179,95 € to 199,95 €, and who value cheap, easy-to-find consumables from the same shop. The X55 SW+ models suit homes with more hard floor, where rotating mop pads and cross-line laser obstacle detection earn their price. Owners who keep machines for years will appreciate that Medion still sells parts for a 2021 model.
